“B–” You address the teleporter, deciding it’s high-time to blow this joint (or at least bypass a couple more floors worth of it). “Take us to Conduit’s floor.”
“Really?!” Glowing eyes bug in their sockets, not quite having expected you to say that. “I thought we had a few more floors of mutants to go here.”
“We do, but I think we made enough commotion to keep the guards busy for a while.” A cacophony of shouts, gunshots, and powers sounding from up above and all around you, it appears that FutureLabs is going to have their hands well and truly full when they come to clean up this mess. To the prisoners’ credit, they seem to be holding their own for the most part, no thanks to Les Misérables.
“But what about that control center that jerkface was tellin’ us about?” Bernard hadn’t forgotten about that.
“I’m right here, you know…” Valjean glowers. “And it might not even be a control center. For all we know that’s just where the guards come in-and-out or something. You really want to be stuck fighting more of those guys?”
“Well let’s get goin’ then…” Gathering around for your next group teleport, your mind flickers back to that odd, pallid-skinned woman. While there’s probably another good dozen mutants just like her, if not more, you wish you knew what happened to her.
No use crying over spilled milk, you think, at least for now.
Though Conduit’s floor looks the same as the rest of the prison, the cells are more sparsely filled than the other ones.
“Cell three-two-four, right?” Bernard says aloud, to which you nod. “By the way, whaddya think happened to Gregor? He’s gotta be in here somewhere.”
“Who’s Gregor?” Julia asks, not having been privy to your fight in Nacht Haven.
“Jebany karaluch…” Boleski growls. Having caught wind of the conversation, he doesn’t sound all-too-pleased at the mention of his former coworker.
