Dressed and ready to go, you head out in the hallways of the vast palace in search of your mother - It’s not a long search, as you find her in the very first place you look; her room. Or rooms, rather, as your entire family has several rooms each across this small wing of the palace.
As you enter quietly, listening to faint conversation sounding from your mother’s bedroom, just beyond the next beautifully carved door. She’s speaking with someone, you’d recognize her voice anywhere, but the other person is… a girl? No, a young boy. He’s crying. You approach the door and listen in for just a moment, pressing closely and eavesdropping just as you used to do so often when you were a child.
“They hate me!” The boy whimpers, sniffling, his sad high pitched tones carrying easily to your ear, “They don’t want me… Only Vivi likes me.”
“Come closer, dear - There, there. Everything’s going to be okay.”
“But!-”
“Shhhh. It’s alright. I’m here.”
…You opt not to knock, opening the door quietly and slipping in. Your mother is sitting upon one of the sofas in her room, holding a crying Glemy close in a hug as he sits on her lap. He’s grown a lot in the last year, a surprising amount even for his age, and you still can’t shake memories of yourself or your brother at that age - He looks so similar it’s nearly uncanny. That must be a lot of what mother sees in him.
“...You’re going to be like them, you won’t like me anymore…” Glemy presses his face tightly against Astraia, and she keeps her arms enclosing him, comforting the distraught little boy. She looks up to see you and a small smile crosses her face, giving the faintest nod. A few quiet steps carry you further into the bedroom, and your mother turns her attention back to Glemy, maternal experience carrying her easily though this.
“No, dear, it’s just a name change. I love you, you know that?” She means it.
“...But you-”
“Shhhh, Glemy. Listen, dear. I’ll always love you, no matter what.”
“R-really?” Glemy asks quietly, sniffling again, and wiping at his eyes with a little hand, “...Can you be my mom?”
Your mother’s eyes meet Glemy’s, caring and gentle, a tender gaze, “Yes, dear. I’d love that more than anything. If they don’t want you, that's their loss. But Vivima does loves you too, don’t forget her, she’s a good aunt. Do you want to be my son?”
Glemy nods adorably, hugging her tighter.
"Artesia is your sister then - And Casval and Felix are your older brothers, they’ll teach you all kinds of things. We’ll our own little family - And we’ll all always love you.”
Glemy ceases crying and looks up at your mother with complete adoration, showing the love and attachment only such a young child can wear so openly - It fades to something a little more contemplative after a moment.
