“Now then, I wonder what my Lord will think of you?” The fool spoke as he gave a smile, “Perhaps he would like to come out here and give a gander at you. He’s been itching for something fun to do after all.”
Taking a wad of spit, Lucian sent it flying at the man. The impact slamming easily upon his face with the practiced precision of a bored peasant. It was hilarious watching as the man began running his hands across his face multiple times with vigor. So surprised he was that the man almost fell over from the simple attack, and Lucian wished he did fall over the railing to the open sea.
“Damn you!” He shouted as he shook his hand in the air, “I shall tell my Lord about this! He shall tear you into pieces!”
“You.” The words came from another man that was carrying a lamp. It was a sting to Lucian’s eyes but they adjusted in the next moment.
In a single moment Lucian recognized the man to be the Captain of the vessel. In his left hand he unsteadily carried a lantern that shined a beam of light upon both Lucian and the fool who came to antagonize him. His other hand however had a dirty rag wrapped around it, leading across his neck so that it would be held up.
Lucian had seen such a horrid injury a great many times during his life in Verac. The weak limbs of his brothers made them break bones at least once a month it seemed to him. Lucian wished the injury came from an accident, yet he knew for certain it was from his own hands.
“Leave.” He said sternly to the fool with a sharp bark.
The face of the man became a sneer as he disappeared into the darkness underneath the ship. What he was to do Lucian did not know, but he felt like the danger of that man had just jumped considerably.
The Captain turned towards Lucian, shining the lantern in his face with a scowl on his face. He was clearly looking over the man, studying to see what injuries his crew had done to Lucian. He showed no enjoyment in the action, simply a farmer looking over the injuries one of his beasts of burden had suffered.
Finishing his examination his light shined in the face of Lucian, then the entire hood of the lantern was lifted so that everything, including himself, were lit.
“Calm down yet?” He asked as he balanced the light between the two of them.
