"Suppose we would've gotten along." I see why he used his sword, it makes for a good cross. I kneel at the grave and with my hat on my knee i start prayin'. "Lord, Reckon i've got no place asking for much. If anythin' can be granted, grant me the will to do wha' I must. An' the wisdom to know wha' I mustn't. I pray myself, and the folk 'ere make it through what we've found ourselves against. May we all make it through. Amen."
I feel a bit of relief at that. But don't really hear or see anything around me different, save for the grave keeper having moved on to brushing and scraping headstones. I figure I've got plenty of time to kill, the sun's finally gone down. Not much to do other than finish my reloading so i go find a nice quiet place in town and set to doin' that.
34 bullets, That's what i've got to work with. Other than that I still have the stuff being delivered to the Duke to use in the morning.
As i'm putting away my bullets i hear a commotion out at the gate and go check it out.
"Let us through you cur! I didn't fight past Orcs to let them die of exposure!"
"You'll go elsewhere! We've enough problems in this city without adding plague to it!"
I see a man who's been pullin' a wagon, apparently by himself if the lack of animals and ropes around him is any indication. He's arguing with the guards while holding a blade what looks more like a cleaver than a sword. A closer look and he's wearing just whatever he could have thrown on 'fore coming here, and he's covered in wounds from the journey.
"That would kill my sister! I'll split your head open before that!"
