You decide to explore the dungeon. Here, you find a crevice in the rock with a much deeper internal temperature within then the ambient in the Dreary Heights- leading you to believe there is a great amount of geothermal energy beneath the ground. You take along quite a few reds with some purples, in case you find something too heavy to move on its own, and some green for good measure.
As you explore the dungeon, you encounter a few minor creatures that nonetheless pick off a few pikmin. Individually, one pikmin is no match for the vast majority of creatures on this planet. But at the same time, whenever you command your Pikmin to attack, they can handily destroy even things many, many times bigger and stronger then themselves individually.
The mountain gets warmer, and the walls get brighter and brighter colored- as though the soils are becoming more vibrant the farther down into the fossil record you go.
It makes you think. If one pikmin is weak, but many of them are strong- perhaps even unstoppable with the right mixture of colors- then what is their true role on this planet's ecosystem? What do you think is their purpose here?
>Apex Predators
>Generalists
>Bottom of the food chain
>They are an intelligent species just like you and me
