“My nose did not betray your scent, I see.” Explained the Dragon as it reared itself to its full height, “You are touched by the Gods. Are there not many God-Kings of man who triumph themselves of Drake Slaying?”
“Those stories always have the Dragons stealing livestock and even the children of villages.” Pointed out Lucian as he glanced at the creature’s full body. He would compare it to the size of two houses and its girth equal to one. Each of its scales were like a tapestry of color drawn by an artisan painter yet Lucian knew them to be naturally of the Dragon’s make.
“Indeed they were more primitive breeds out there. I have been alive long enough to see many races grow duller as the time of ages move forward.” Said the great beast as its eyes shifted about, “It seems only your kind, man, comes to the current age without the entropy of yesteryear.”
“I… do not see what you mean by that.” Lucian said as he felt off put by the creature’s changing topics.
“Godblood runs through your veins.” It answered while starting to move around Lucian, “The Dwarfs and Elfs descend from their Gods, and they were fashioned like clay by the hands of those who arrived first. With every year that goes by their blood thins and becomes but weakness in the face of the coming storms.”
The eye of the creature was lowered down, becoming level with Lucian’s own as to get the most sight it could, “You are not diluted. You are a man with the blood of a God running through your veins. Given, not born with.”
Lucian had to shake his head from the confusion and almost surprise that was flowing through him, “Great Dragon I seek out aid for my homeland. Against the forces of Chaos who attack it!”
“You no longer share a heritage with those people.” The Dragon said quickly with a flare of gold in its eyes, “Why help them when they cannot serve the gods as well as you have?”
>Because it is right
>The Gods support them, and I am their servant
>Chaos, its taint, cannot fester in this world.
