You bowed your head remorsefully. “And for that I apologize, Silvio. I promise that I’ll give this matter my full attention as soon as I’m able.”
Silvio gave a terse nod. “Let’s hope that’s sooner rather than later.”
“I’m actually going to be in Vegas for a little while to do business with ‘The Family’. I was thinking that you might want to get in on some of that action.” you added.
His eyes widened in surprise at the mention of the seemingly notorious crime family. He rubbed his chin and hummed thoughtfully as he pondered the implications of joining forces with a group like that.
“Vegas, huh? Which faction were you planning on approaching?” he asked.
When you gave him a dumbfounded look, he leaned against his desk and folded both arms over his chest. “I guess you hadn’t found that part out yet.” he said with a sigh. “Well, I might as well clue you in. If anything it’d help to get you back here faster.”
Ana didn’t say anything about multiple factions, but you supposed that it made sense. Maybe she was planning on telling you more when she had the time to spare.
“Now, I don’t know the in’s and outs of the city like they do, but I do know that there are a few big names that pop up when you go poking your nose where it don’t belong.” Silvio continued. “There’s Rollo, the boss of a fancy casino called ‘Area 52’. It’s sci-fi themed. Can’t miss it.”
“I’ll be sure to take pictures when I go.” you promised.
Silvio decided not to comment on your little quip. “From what I hear, Rollo’s a pretty laid-back guy, but his group has also got access to advanced technology that you won’t just find lying around in any market. They pride themselves on it. It’s why he’s got such a fierce rivalry with Roberto Da Costa.”
“And what’s his deal?”
“He runs a high-end wax museum where dead celebrities go around interacting with visitors. You can have lunch with Elvis and go a few rounds in the ring with Muhammed Ali. Tourists love it.”
“Damn. I might have to check that out myself.” you admitted. “But I don’t see why that would make Rollo jealous of him.”
“Well you see, there’s been rumors that Da Costa’s been using advanced technology in order to beef up the processing power of his wax dummies. Some of the experts think that he’s using his tourist attraction to field test an artificial intelligence that his group’s been developing.”
“But why would anyone put an AI in a bunch of wax dummies? Isn’t that a waste?”
Silvio shrugged. “Beats me. You can ask him yourself if you decide to go see him. But before that, you’re probably gonna need a place to stay. And if you want to get rid of two birds with one stone, I’d suggest that you settle down at the Mirage Hotel. The one with the big, flashy volcano. Gloria Munoz runs her operations through that place, and you’re more likely to run into her if you’re staying there.”
