>>5399034Instead of improving its shielding to better survive the ice, one segment of the Flounder Feeder population abandoned the waves altogether, flattening the tips of their tails and following the Lazy Feeder’s example. Now, the Flat-Tail Crawler is competing with the Lazy Feeders and Shufflers for their territory. It’s not doing a very good job but it’s better off down there than trying to survive the ice with a soft outside. Its population is small and stable, but that could easily change.
