“Baron!” Lucian called out as he met the man on the battlements overlooking the pair of blazing fires which consumed the bodies of those that were their friends and their enemies, “I’ve made my decision, I cannot stay here in fear of what will come tonight and the next night. If I can help it, I must make sure that fewer souls make their way to Morr.”
“How will we do that? There are too many of them and the fortress strengthens us.” The Baron asked as he turned to Lucian, “With all respects, Sir Knight, while you are a prolific warrior I cannot see our odds changing simply because you are among us.”
“I do not ask for an army, but release from my oath.” Lucian told the man, “I have fought Greenskin and Chaos, both act the same. If I kill their lord then they will run in fear, disperse across the plains in fear.”
The man laughed as if Lucian said a funny joke, “You do not understand who it is you would be fighting. Did you witness that Giant among their kin the last night?”
“Yes, the giant was standing off from the rest of his warriors.”
“Giants never do that. Chaos always sends forward the Giants to crust the keep under their feet. Such is the reason the walls of their keep are so thick, to make sure that a monster of such size cannot casually topple the walls with a kick.” The man answered Lucian, “In these lands there is a name that travels amongst our kind, Grimidal, Father of Albion’s Giants.”
“Why would he have such a name?” Lucian dared to ask.
“It is said that those who witnessed Grimidal heard the giant speak, that he would murmur to himself and with giant trees light forest fires.” The man answered Lucian, “He has the name because word is he can think. That he still has a mind where all of his children are as dumb as the stone he carved them out of.”
“An… intelligent giant? That is what Grimidal is?”
“Aye, I believe he is the leader of that Chaos Warband.” Answered the man as he fully faced Lucian now. The bodies of his people burned behind him as he spoke his question, “Do you think you can kill Grimidal, the First Giant of Albion? Sure you have killed the Jabberslythe, but can you face such an ancient creature?”
