>>5159567I too am concerned about degrading our sight, but Primarchs are resilient. Hopefully it comes back when we take the blackstone off. Yeah, I think we should consider that there are times we do and do not have to wear it. For example, maybe keeping it in a thick lead lined neutral blackstone container. Alternatively have specific sessions where we distance ourselves from blackstone to ponder the great mechanical mysteries of the Machine God, and commit them to memory.
OR that we can have access to all our best knowledge and skills even with blackstone on.
In theory this could be solved by non-psychic means like, taking the mind of a Cryptek Technomancer, who probably knows so much about science that even DAoT looks like necron elementary school. And best of all, Necrons have no risk for psychic contamination. IIRC Belisarius Cawl essentially did that, stealing a Cryptek from some other Xenarite Mechanicus and then using the information to be able to interface and comprehend necron technology.
Our best bet to do this is to be lucky enough to discover Silva Tenebris. They are a minor, small dynasty in the Sol System bereft of any allies or reinforcements. Their wake up protocols were pretty bad, allowing only a single Ark Mechanicus and its crew to slay their commanders one by one. Plus, they also have some actual stolen STC fragments they've pilfered for their collections.
I think that would ultimately be the best thing. Supreme scientific knowledge on parallel or even beyond the DAoT men, without relying on psychic powers.
