>>5369041Letting Delrio off scot-free isn’t an option; the bastard sold you down the river to Task Force X and Pedraza, got your moles in the cartel killed, and threatens the lives of each and every soldier in the Grand Liberators.
As much as you’d like to handle him personally, you’ve got bigger fish to fry.
Namely, the Ace of Winchesters.
To that end, you decide to split off from your main element and give Stalnoivolk and Bonilla their marching orders. Bring Delrio back; alive if possible, dead if he really insists on being a nuisance.
Before they head out, Stalnoivolk gives you directions towards the location of the vaults. Shouldn’t be too far, but you’ll have to pass through some unsecured areas of the palace first.
If his intel is correct, the only Suicide Squad member guarding it is Catalyst; that one guy wearing the weird hazmat suit.
Still don’t really know what his deal is, but you’ll handle things as they come.
The rest of your men are divvied up to watch the prisoners, secure the perimeter, or move out on the Delrio hunt.
It’s for the best that you handle this on your own, not to cast any aspersions on any of your allies, but greed can rear its ugly head in the worst of ways if not accounted for.
Doesn’t help that you’re here for a very specific piece, and it’d be a lot of needless hassle to explain your motivations.
At about the halfway point of your trek to the vaults, you come across your first major obstacle; about two dozen palace guards that have taken up a defensive position that blocks your path.
Looks like they’ve formed a makeshift checkpoint out of furniture and have dug in for a fight. Weapons are pretty standard make, apart from some HMGs and a RPG or two.
Some nasty firepower, but you’ve dealt with far worse.
Thankfully, you managed to spot them first. Gives you the ability to think things through without being shot at for once.
With the element of surprise on your side, you decide to…
> Intimidate them into surrendering. You’ve already won, there’s no sense in unnecessary bloodshed when there are viable alternatives.
