>>5316256Both deities continue to bicker, but your consciousness is already returning from this uncanny space to the mortal world. You close your eyes for just a moment—an overlong blink—and find yourself cross-legged, in a comparatively small-chamber, before a melted and burnt-out candle, radiating only faintest smoke and surrounded by molten wax and grey ash.
A kobold raps at the stone next to your chamber’s open ‘doorway’. It is without real portal save a hung human curtain, which made the earlier ‘moment of weakness’ with Glowie all the roe awkward… And strangely thrilling.
“Is ready to leave?” a kobold anxiously inquired.
“Yes,” you say, and stand up to do so.
Night has barely fallen when you and your kobold minions—and Glowie—set out. Your small platoon—six in total—travel under cover of darkness. The lack of light means little to you. There is a kobold female present in this force, but you find your mind strangely… Clear of distraction, despite this. You aren’t sure whether Glowie of the philosophically-complicated conversation with the Dark Gods are to than for this.
You arrive at the abandoned village where, a few short days ago, you defeated the Dragonwrought, repelled the kobold archers and slingers, and looted everything of value before ordering its abandonment. You now see a dim fire-light emanating through the windows of the headman’s great cabin, where you briefly made your residence and where Hapo and Hako were defeated and ousted.
“Most of humans are in there,” the female kobold—Tessu—tells you. “But one of them—big, strong, horn helmet… Prowls like cat at outskirts, watches. Had to dodge to spy.”
“Half-elf, too,” Ivno tells you, for the male kobold scout joined you on this expedition in spite of his friend’s death In the mines. “Sits in tree, watches. Bow at ready, and pipe—to signal others.”
“Horn-man is dangerous, READY,” Tessu says.
“Elf-spawn is sleepy, idle,” Ivno says, “but tougher to reach, and can sound warning.”
“Could just avoid both and kill the humans in the house,” Glowie says cheerily. “They will not have back-up if their friends are envenomed or burning.”
”Three are sleeping,” Tessu informs you, counting on her talons, “Armour-man, magic-looking man, and robe-man with many knives, sleeps apart from others, many shinies.”
What do you do?
>Target the horn-helmed human first—likely entailing a personal duel [harder]>Assassinate the half-elf in his tree [easier, but if you fail, you have a proper fight on your hands]>Bypass the watchers to kill the sleepers in their home>Split your forces to target multiple forces at once [specify how]
