>>5424345Dishonored is one of my favourite games. There is so much art and design that is so utterly incredible. I will never forgive Arkane for making Deathloop lol when they could have made Dishonored 3, I was dying to see just a glimpse of the Pandyssian continent (the museum level of Dishonored 2, hinting at some Africa/Empire of Brazil thing with all that stuffed animal taxidermy). Besides inspiring so many rpgs (lol Blades in the Dark and all pbta ripoffs) Dishonored proves that taking anything and MAKING IT FOLD
>>5423662is an easy formula for making it unbelievably cool.
Here is Corvo's folding sword, I could never get enough of the animation and the attack moves in first person are just SO GOOD.
But there is even an entire level that folds (the trapped clockwork mansion, it is so well designed, and when you outwit the inventor by sliding between the cracks he comments and gets mad lol on his loudspeaker...!) but also, another level which folds not spatially but in time... that mirror device that lets you play through one level warping backwards and forwards in time simultaneously blending past and present - incredible level design that overlaps two worlds at once, I really was impressed by that one. I played through the game again and again doing weird things like no magic, no guns, no swords, no healing (only using the taps, no potions) no killing, killing everything, using only windblast, using only rats lol etc. etc. The aesthetics of the game are just utterly immersive, the design of those rose flower witches, the whalebone runes, the technology, the machines and architecture, the factions and all the lore notes scattered across the world etc. I paid homage to the famous Bioshock / Deus Ex / Dishonored 451 code in the IVVI puzzle of my very first quest here.
