>>6137013>The people of the desert continued to flourish, and the Sorcerer King gathered many disciples now capable of using magic. He desired to create a city for his followers. One where they could continue to train their sorcery and accomplish great things. A home for all of the desert’s mages, where they could work together to uncover new knowledge and bring prosperity and peace for all. Together with his disciples, the Sorcerer King created his city, which he named Morfis. The city grew more and more under his leadership, and became a jewel in the desert. It became known as the City of Illusions, for all who gazed upon its majesty refused to believe that what they were seeing was real.>Things were great for a time…until the Great Serpent arrived. You turned the page. Once again, another grand, colorful spread was drawn. The Sorcerer King was depicted, along with a winged, black creature. Fire and brimstone rained down from the sky, and the clouds were black with ash. You gritted your teeth. Who was the illustrator for this thing?
>Leviathan, The Great Serpent, had appeared. The monster arrived from Fodlan, the Dark Continent, on wings of black night. It sought to destroy Morfis and ruin the Sorcerer King. It used its fel powers to mesmerize many of the people of Morfis, causing them to turn their backs on the Sorcerer King who had given them so much. War erupted, and once again, the people of the desert suffered. The Sorcerer King and Leviathan fought in a titanic clash, until finally, he prevailed, vanquishing the beast. However, it came at a great cost. The Sorcerer King had expended his life defending his people. The next page depicted a massive, white columned building, with an ornate, closed door that stretched high.
>With his final act, the Sorcerer King entombed himself inside Tartarus, the Great Mausoleum. Tartarus was built on a hill, overlooking the city that the Sorcerer King had created and loved. Even in death, the Sorcerer King watches over all of us, and the progress that we make in creating a just and peaceful world. When the people of Morfis can finally create such a world, perhaps the gates of Tartarus will open, and the Sorcerer King will return to his people. The final page of the book has returned to the crude stick-figure drawings that were on the first page. Only now, the stick-figures are smiling and holding hands beneath a rainbow.
>The End“Ahh, Lord Tristain!” Cassius appears before you, a warm smile across his face. “I see that you’ve finished the book! I’m delighted that you read it. Tell me, did you have any questions? Were there perhaps any words that you did not understand?”
