Despite this being your second time crossing through this part of the Monster Metro, this was the first time that you were able to sit back and appreciate the sights. Before, you were entirely focused on reaching the Kaiju King after Shaggy told you about his abilities.
But now…
From your place on Mekara’s shoulders, you and Ana marveled at the bright, neon signs that were very much like your own back home, advertising services and slogans in a language that was entirely foreign to you. Similarly, their food was alien to your human sensibilities, and you couldn’t completely wrap your head around why some of the monsters down below were haggling so animatedly for these merchants’ wares, but you supposed that an isolated community of monsters from different mythologies is bound to have some pretty significant cultural differences.
“This is incredible…” Ana breathed. “So much life down here, right under our feet.”
Mekara’s pace was slower than you would’ve liked, but she needed to give everyone time to move out of the way in time for her next footfall. They didn’t even look that angry about the inconvenience. Everyone was very respectful of creatures that were bigger than them. It was like they always had the right of way, regardless of what was going on around them.
“If you’re this good at clearing out traffic up there as you are down here, then I might have to see about getting my own giant robot.”
“I can’t imagine how you manage to get anywhere if everyone there is your size.” she said with a laugh.
“I don’t really have those problems anymore, but I can tell you that everyone else hates it.” you said with a shrug.
“It helps to have wings.” the Mask Maker put in. “I really should’ve worn something with wings today.”
“How’s that angel outfit coming?” Mekara asked the Limbo demon.
“It burns when I wear it! That must mean I’m doing something right!” the red-skinned creature said in an enthusiastic tone, her fake tail wagging.
Mekara laughed, turned a corner, and then paused. The thick cables from before were a little too high for her to pass through unimpeded. She grimaced slightly.
“These weren’t here before. We’re gonna have to go around.”
She turned and made to go back, the crowd of monsters near her feet instantly parting to allow her safe passage.
“They’re like ants from up here!” the Mask Maker giggled.
“You’d need to be a little higher up before you can say that, I think.” you added.
“Nope, we’ve got pretty big//huge//large ants.” Mekara confirmed. “Pest control is a constant problem down here.”
