Everyone likes the abstract opening to Sicario or when Denis Villeneuve does the solar thermal farm array in Blade Runner 2049 (but the rest of the film... hmmm hmmm) maybe there needs to be a mecha battle or artillery strike on this location to teach Villeneuve a lesson. Another aerial type photograph I like is those surreal Arabic desert agriculture images, where there is like an oasis disc of irrigated greenery in the middle of the sand dunes, I always imagined that would be an interesting setting for a mecha battle. Armored Core 4 had desert skyscrapers (also if I remember Nier Automata?) but I think if you put in some aggressively human-sustained artifical agriculture crop fields in the middle of a barren desert it makes it more bizarre
