You arrive to the cafe breathless and tired but at least you were on time. As you step through the sliding glass doors a roar of shouting and chatter hits rings your ears. The normally relaxed cafe was brimming with life as dozens of people were chatting amongst themselves or pointing to one of the many TV screens hanging on the walls. Many of others were huddled around computers monitors, motioning wildly and grinning. You make your way to the front desk before a customer hurries over to you. "Hey John! The Boss wants to see you!" He says over the ambient chatter. "Man, he's gonna talk your ear off. Last night's match was wild!" He shoots you a big grin and motions to the stairs that lead to the second floor and Roland's office.
The second floor was dedicated to everything employee related that wasn't required on the first floor. Immediately after reaching the top of the stairs, you enter a space that had been turned into a nice little living room area. The back glass wall over looked the city street and had a small balcony for smoking or simply hanging around. The room itself contained a small coffee table, two long sofa and a large TV for employees or business visitors to relax in. All of it was decorated tastefully but simple. It was hard to believe that it was Roland who did the decorating himself. Attached to the space was a small, but well stocked, kitchen area with a dining table nearby for meals. Roland had once told you about how much of a pain it was to get a simple permission from the city to be able to knock a single wall down just to have the to spaces connected like this.
Moving deeper in to the second floor, was a small hallway. In complimenting the the living space idea, there was even a few bedrooms here for employees to sleep in case they missed their ride or were unable to return home for whatever reason. Each door had a lock that only an employee card could open and once used, would only unlock for that card until Roland himself reset it. Though there had never been an instance of theft or the like, Roland didn't want to take the chance and said he'd rather his employees feel safe regardless. There was also two bathrooms on the other side of the hall, one for men and one for women, complete with showers in case they spent the night over. Like the bedrooms only employee cards could unlock them and would remained tied to the card. However 'ownership' only remained until the door was opened from the inside.
