>>5747619You decide to try and draw this out some more, to see if you can determine whether or not it's worth trying to capture her alive.
To that end, you toss your makeshift club aside and turn off your tower shield.
However, that only seems to rile her up even more. Her fur stands on end, and she hisses at you.
...Do they do that normally? You don't really remember Cylia hissing at you a lot.
In any case, you spread your arms wide and start walking towards her.
The mutated woman growls deeply before kicking off with her good leg, in order to bound off the walls like a rubber ball.
Since she's only using one leg that's some pretty impressive power, even considering the station's low gravity.
You might be able to do something like that without your suit on, but it would be taxing for sure. You're pretty bulky.
You stop walking and watch as she hops around a few times, but refuses to come directly at you. It's almost like she's looking for something...
And you guess she finds it, because she changes direction suddenly and lands right next to the club you dropped.
She grabs it with both hands and swings it with considerable force, landing a solid blow on your helmet that rings both it and the club like a bell.
Of course, it does absolutely nothing to you on the inside, but it may have left a scratch or two on the surface.
She goes in for another swing, but this time you grab hold of the club with your right hand and use it to pull her towards you, where you deliver a (relatively) light punch to her gut.
It still sends her flying back into the nurse's desk, which breaks on impact. She continues tumbling through it and into the little nook area before coming to a stop against the far wall.
Seeming dizzied but otherwise unperturbed, she quickly crawls along the floor such that the counter hides her body from view.
In the few seconds it takes you to walk over there and peek through the hole you'd made, she's disappeared.
Well, you know better than that. She must have crawled out through one of the actual entrances.
Moments later, you feel something on your back. You can't quite turn your head far enough to see her, but you can see that she's currently trying to stab you in the neck with a scalpel.
You're not sure where she got that, but you think you've just about got an idea of her by now. Just reaching over your shoulder and feeling her leap off your back to escape is enough to confirm it.
Tool use. Conscious thought. Self-Preservation.
She's proved that she's retained all of that, at least to some degree.
She may be as feral as a wildcat right now, but who knows. Maybe you can calm her down.
And if not... well, she'll still make a good case study.
The only problem now is, how the hell do you capture her?
