> Learn a new spell: Create Breeze
Mel heaved herself off the ground and examined the animated tattoos on her arm. The bull was as docile and asleep as ever, while the birds hopped and bounced around, occasionally pecking at one another. It was going to be tough to fight something that could fly, Arx was bound to the ground, and she didn’t have much else to work with.
She crawled into the tent and thumbed through her meager library. The imp ritual caught her eye for a moment, a second pair of hands would help, both for mundane chores and life and death combat. Still, the beast would be just as helpless as her against birds.
A section from Joe's notes caught her eye.
The lab is growing unbearably hot and stuffy as of late. I'm working out the quirks of a wind spell I had the good fortune of hearing once long ago, but had never found reason to research until now. With a bit of work Aers should be simple enough to master, and I might finally get some relief.
Notes scattered across the tent floor as she chased down further details. This wind spell could be just the thing to rip the birds from the sky, or at least keep them off balance. The key pieces were scattered of course, little details scribbled in margins and on the back of other documents, but as darkness swallowed up the land she held out a hand.

The spark of mana left her and the tent walls shuddered as wind filled them. Papers scattered across the tent chaotically as she fought to find a direction for the wind that didn't result in more chaos. A few redirections later she found herself surrounded by a circle of papers, grinning at the controlled madness as they flapped around her.
Ever so carefully she managed to set each paper down one by one, then escaped the tent, the miniature vortex held in a tight loop around her head. She sent it down into the dirt next, kicking up dust, then with her hands moving like a harp player scooped the dust together and shot it away.
She spent the next few minutes dancing around the fire, raising the flames with currents of air, churning up clouds of dust, sending her hair billowing upward, until the wind under her control finally faded away. She brought up her arm, bringing the birds to eye level.
“Hope you were watching that.”
