>>5153922As Chilli delivers the doubtlessly devastating news that he cannot help Mechikabura, the demon god’s shark-like grin only widens. You’d think hearing your son’s magic capacity is less than a thousandth of what he’d need for Mechikabura’s plan would put a damper on his mood, but he remains unphased. In fact, he seems almost to have anticipated such a reaction.
“I wouldn’t ask you to burn yourself out again, especially since you are still recovering from doing such a thing yesterday. At least for you.” Mechikabura answers smoothly. “Which is why I wouldn’t ask you to do such a thing alone.”
“Huh?” Chilli asks, clearly confused.
“What?” Towa asks, also surprised. “You can’t use Chaos, how could you help him?”
“It is true that I, being a Demon God, cannot handle Chaos itself.” Mechikabura says, still just as calm as ever. “However, that does not mean my magic cannot support one who can. Especially when my power is channeled through, and converted by, another wielder of power. I am not asking you to do this by yourself, young Chilli. But use my might, and I promise you, for what I ask, that your reserves will be at least at the levels it was before taking on such an important task. So I ask again, will you-?”
“What the hell is going o-TRUNKS?!” Future Chaya shouts, storming into the room together with Ace. Both are already in their peak forms, mortal and divine auras blazing.
“Trunks...” you hear Ace mutter, his face a mess of emotions upon seeing his former ally’s condition. Normally a very quiet young man, Ace surprisingly speaks up, and asks Mechikabura a question. “Did you do it? Did you free him of her control, like you did for me?”
“There...Is no easy way to tell you this.” the demon god says, showing no signs of frustration from being interrupted once again. “He could not be saved. Unlike you, Trunks here isn’t under any sort of mind enslavement.”
“WHAT?!” you think, barely containing yourself. Ever since learning Ace only worked for her dur to mind control, you had assumed that the rest of her forces did as well. But of course not, of course Trunks had to be a disappointment once again.
“No, there’s no way.” Ace says, so shocked he reverted back to his redheaded base form. “You must have missed something. There’s no way he worked for her willingly.”
“Sorry to tell you, but it’s the truth.” Fu speaks up, as carelessly jovial as always. “I even double checked, because I couldn’t believe it at first either. But he’s one hundred percent not under any sort of compulsion, hypnosis, mind control, or any other such thing. His actions are entirely his own.”
