“I have little patience for games, raider.” Montgomery says. “As we speak, the eastern wall of the monastery will soon fall. I need your men to take position at the front. Once the wall falls, you are to rush forward and put everyone that you find inside to the sword.”
“Hold on. Before that there’s something I wish to discu-“
“Where Is your Oracle?” Montgomery interrupts Leif, scanning his eyes over you and the others. “Lady Cornelia informed me that I would be dealing with her. Where is she?”
“She didn’t make it through the trip.” Leif says through gritted teeth. “Unfortunate accident, really. Some people just aren’t suited for long distance travel. Least of all frail little clerics.”
Montgomery says nothing. His beady little eyes give you a sense of unease as they continue gazing over you and the others. Finally, though, he turns his back on you. “We have nothing to discuss, raider. Get into position and get to fighting.”
“Hey, wait! I said-“
“I said I have nothing further to say to you, Prince of Raiders. If you wish to discuss the terms of your assistance, then pester the Patriarch with such frivolous matters. I on the other hand, have a battle to win. And when that wall falls, your people had better be at the front.” The priest once more turns his back on Leif and makes to head back into the smithy.
Leif looks both perplexed and angry at the rudeness the elder shows him. He stands there almost in awe, seemingly unsure of what to do next.
