>SGT Otho last moments 801.
Then suddenly, out of nowhere, came the sound of explosions from behind their lines. Men screamed. Explosions shook the air. Screaming and gunfire erupted from all
directions.
"Fall back! Fall back!" shouted someone, an officer. Whatever he meant or wherever he intended to drag the mass of soldiers was never to be known as his upper torso exploded, his exo armor broken.
The soldiers began running. They dropped their package and ran. Bullets flew everywhere. Screams turned to wails. Blood sprayed across the floor. Otho tried desperately not to look back. The sight had been too terrible for anyone to bear. What happened next wasn't pretty either. Two more friends died before Otho managed to break free of the melee. He ran off, looking wildly around him. Everywhere there was death. Soldiers lay dead on the ground. Others writhed in agony, clutching broken limbs. And behind them...
Behind them, a giant figure strode purposefully forward. This one looked different from the rest—a huge humanoid creature wearing power armor... A monster in human form, What was this thing. The time it tooks Otho to formulated such thoughts was enough for the creature to kill 2,3, more of his men, he could not...
Fear gripped him with icy fingers. Something told him he should run away but he couldn't. All he wanted was to get out alive. To live just a little longer. So he did what all humans do when confronted by something impossible. He fought.
Guided by instinct, he aimed his pistol at the monster's chest plate. At least that way he might survive.
There was no point trying to shoot its head because the helmet protected it anyway. If only he knew how many shots remained in the gun's magazine. Or where the safety switch was. But these things weren't important right now. After all, the odds were stacked against him. In fact, he'd already lost. Just moments ago, the last two members of his squad were killed. That left him alone as far as he knew.
Yet still he stood...Suddenly, the monster lunged forward. Before Otho could react, the beast grabbed hold of his arm and lifted him effortlessly into the air. Otho's body landed heavily on the hard stone.
"I'm going to enjoy killing you," said the monster in a voice like thunder. "You're nothing special." It stepped closer to Otho and raised its hand high above its head.
