The rampaging Orks were quickly crossing the field as the Vanguard fired as many bullets as their Carbines were able. The sound of metal clangs from drained batteries and munitions rang in UZ1’s ear as she had to think fast.
+Rangers, go into Volley Formation and wait for my call.+ She told them over the Noosphere as she clicked her systems, “Astartes and Vanguard begin falling back. Avoid contact unless it is absolutely necessary.”
Upon her words the groups called upon began going in reverse. The Astartes in good order began backing away while preparing their chainswords for what they clearly thought to be an intimate fight. The Vanguard, knowing what was about to happen, quickly moved behind the Rangers to their effective range so that they did not disrupt what was about to occur.
As all the pieces were in place UZ1 raised her hand to which half of the Rangers did so with their guns. She watched as the Orks came crashing towards her in such a way that a great many of them were accidently their own allies under their feet. Brutal it was, she watched and waited for the moment to come.
+FIRE!+ She blared out in an eruption of gunfire. The Rangers quickly emptying their weapons to the greatest extent they could possibly do before the entire group had their weapons click at the same moment.
+ROTATE!+ She declared as the firing Skitarii fell back and allowed the ones who were standing behind them to bear their weapons, +FIRE!+
Like the many times before the Rangers were dumping most of their munitions into the Horde. This time though UZ1 realized she was going to be running out of munitions to commit this tactic making it likely the last moment.
The firing was just enough though. The encroachment of Orks slowed to a stop as their bodied began piling up on top of one another. The Astartes who were preparing themselves to fight in melee were now taking out their flamers and setting the corpse pile aflame.
“YOU GITS!” Yelled the head of the mob as he came rocketing through the horde, “GET AT EM!”
The Squig gave a mighty roar as it came running at full speed and destroying the piles of flaming corpses. The laughter of the Ork rocketed across the field as they came towards them.
He did not make it much further as the air was quickly lit up as a divine act by the Machine God.
