Around the world, people of all ages and backgrounds have come together in the revolutionary new world created by the Gundam Metaverse project. Now, builders from around the world are able to share their works with each other, overcoming the boundaries of distance and even language. Naturally, the most popular feature of the Metaverse is the ability to pilot the gunpla you've so proudly created to fight against AI enemies or other builders in story missions, challenge quests and PvP.
To drum up publicity and excitement for the newly released Gundam Metaverse, the world's first Gunpla Battle World Tournament has been announced. Builders from around the world were quick to clog the servers to register themselves for the tournament, lured in by the prospect of being crowned the best pilot, or by the idea of their gunpla being shown off live to millions of people during the tournament live stream, or by the tournament's grand prize of $500,000 that will be rewarded to the winner of the competition.
"Five hundred thousand dollars.." a young man repeats to himself as he reads about the tournament on his phone. "Huh? Did you say something?" a much younger girl's voice asks from a nearby hospital bed as she snips some small piece of plastic off a runner. "Nothing... how's that model kit, Cassie? Are you having fun?" the young man says with a gentle warmth in his voice to his little sister. She responds with a vigorous nod and the brightest smile he's ever seen, and he feels his heart lighten as if the heavy burdens of the world placed on his shoulders just became a little lighter.
"I'm just about done... aaaaanddd.. done!" she announces proudly as a loud snap merges the last two pieces of the kit together. She holds it up and displays it to him proudly, a 1/144 high grade GM. It's nothing fancy as you just grabbed whatever the shopkeep recommended for a beginner's gunpla, and the kit is a nubby mess due to it being your little sister's first build, but there's a sincere luster of pride gleaming from her eyes as she shows it off. "It looks great", the man says with a smile, taking the kit off her hands to inspect the build and give her a nod of approval.
"So you're really gonna do it? You'll enter the tournament with my gunpla?" Cassie asks with the heavy weight of expectation and excitement in her voice. He couldn't say no even if he wanted to. "Yep. And when we win that grand prize, we'll finally live the easy life." the young man says with the best smile he can muster to reassure her. Five hundred thousand dollars is a lot of money, enough to pay for the numerous surgeries and medicine his sickly little sister needs, and enough for them to live securely for the foreseeable future.
