You sit now somewhere at the top of the fortress looking out a window into the falling night. A lounge for officers and high ranking officials, many have come to both socialize and fraternize. You sit alone with a bottle of brandy that you have lost the appetite for, before even opening. Its that damned wizard, he lingers in your mind. You don't care for him, he was annoying, irritating, and smelled funny. So what is it about him that sticks? Have you truly never met him? He must have placed a curse on you when your back was turned. Perhaps the sword? No, you picked it yourself...
Your brooding is interrupted by a women who takes a seat across from you. You are close to lashing out, until you notice the white robes. This women is an astrologer, she does not sit here without purpose. Having been so lost in your own mind you did not notice her, but the same cannot be said for the many on lookers that watch you now from the corner of their eyes.
Quickly, you offer your palm and she gently takes it with a smile. She runs her finger down your hand and a tinge of fear enters your heart. Your loyalty is true, this you know, probably. But it would be wrong to say that, you are a man without vice. Should this women find you wanting, or see treason in your future, it would be your end. There would be no trial, no second guessing. In the hour you would be dead. What man can face that without second guessing themselves?
"Its been three days, and you have not come to visit me for a reading. Are you maybe afraid of what could be? Are you perhaps hiding something?"
"Nothing so sinister, I have simply been waiting for the Baron to assign me my post. I did not wish to bother you before I had a proper question to ask."
You hide a lie in layers of truth. It was your plan to first get your assignment, but you didn't know until recently how exactly you got away with skewering your superior officer. Even now you worry to ask, her reading could prove to be your end.
She taps a part of your palm as if there is something interesting there.
"But you have so many questions now, and the longer you wait the less the answers will mater. I have come all this way to find you, so what shall you ask me?"
>what do? (Warning, what ever this women tells you WILL come to pass. Should she choose to give you a direct answer.)
- Ask for general guidance
- Ask if you should visit the wizard tomorrow
- Ask what you should do about the Baron avoiding you
- Ask why you were assigned here
- Ask why the empire build a row of useless fortresses in the middle of a desert.
- Ask nothing, you are not ready to know the future.
