"Skeletons. What's going on with that?"
Babs pointed at the gray patch on the map. "So they're mostly sticking to this area. They're pretty much all pushovers, I skirted the group and took a few out without trying all that hard."
"Not a lot to hit on a skeleton for a spear though."
Babs pursed her lips. "And the sorcerer. He's got some kind of artifact with him, a stone monument looking thing, might be a tether for him and his friends. He threw a few spells my way, a level one and a level two, which at a minimum puts him around your level, but most mages wouldn't blow all their mana on warning shots so I wouldn't be surprised if he's at least level three."
"What kind of spells?" Level three was concerning, that was an entire tier above her.
Babs frowned. "First one was strange, a ball of smoke that had a decent impact when it hit the ground. No incantation, but I didn't see a wand or anything either. Didn't quite catch the incantation on the second, but it was some kind of attack spell that went through the ground then did a burst. Too slow to catch me, but it did uproot a tree, so it's got some kick to it."
"Really likes things with an impact. I wonder if I could bait him into using the spell enough that I could learn it…"
"It's a valid strategy." Babs conceded. "But a dangerous one. You could also find other magic that would let you take him on, or push your own level forward."
