Train transport is efficient enough where you can get anywhere you want in this continent-sized megacity pretty damn quickly: Assuming you can PAY for it.
[SEEKER OF THE CITY] Granted, living in G-Company and having a Handler makes this a lot easier. All of this travel is written off as a business expense.
The icy stretches of nothing that make up a majority of I-Corp's territory subtly shifts. It's hard to notice at first but it's getting...darker. The formerly clear skies are now cast with overcast grey clouds.
What little sunlight that gets through is barely able to illuminate the City ground below.
It gets even worse once you leave I-Corp's territory. The few gaps where light could shine down through are now patched up. The greyish clouds have now taken on a pitch black, almost tar-like hue to them.
The air also seems WRONG now on a way that can't be described as pollution or a simple natural weather phenomenon. A blackened haze similar to factory smog but with no visible source. It's as if there's a tangible darkness hanging around D-Company's air. You're not sure whether you should put a gas mask on when you arrive or not.
Your other allies notice the pitch black haze surrounding the train. Casey is shivering in her seat but she's still trying to keep up a smile. Clover seems to recognize this darkness on some deep, instinctual level.
"Darker. Dark, yet dark, yet dark...yet dark...yet dark." The cowboy hisses through his clenched teeth. He gently rubs Casey's back while keeping his gaze transfixed on the blackened mist.
Kiara taps the side of her head before putting on an annoyed pout. "Even I can't see through that. Clearly that's no regular darkness."
Benjamin can't help but to crack a smile at this. Max lightly smacks him on the head before he even thinks of saying anything.
"Yeah, yeah, we all saw that show as kids. A-Company is still running that sponge show 200 years after the fact." Max is trying really hard to sound like she's above their nonsense but you know she's not. You know for a fact her eyes would tell a different story if you could take off those shades of hers.
Banter aside? The only thing you can see below is the rough outline of buildings through the bright orange haze surrounding them. It appears that there is still light in this district but it's artificial. The streetlights below are barely strong enough to offer you a glimpse at the streets and the people walking throughout them.
The streets are crowded with shuffling, shambling husks of people that are keeping their gazes firmly locked to the floor. The few who don't are clearly trying to start shit but it's hard to tell what from this distance and the poor lighting. You counted hundreds if not thousands of people wandering aimlessly through the gloomy streets below.
Once you're at the train station you realize it's not much better here. The station at Q-Company might as well have been made out of gold and angel tears compared to this one.
