>>5344365As the three women sitting with you continued their argument, your mind wandered somewhere else. To a certain boy you knew, back when you had a different last name. You’d thought about Ashe many times over the years. By all accounts, he was your first and only love. Your first kiss. Your only kiss now that you thought about it. There had certainly been opportunities. Mercenary life is fast and fleeting, after all. Quite a few of the Blackwings were no stranger to enjoying each other’s company. Still, no other man, or woman for that matter, had instilled the same sense of warmth in your heart that Ashe had.
So, when you found out he had been working with the Faerghus Dukedom, you were obviously devastated.
You had heard the news during your time in Fraldarius. He had been spotted on the battlefield by Felix, who had come into combat with the forces of Count Rowe. Ashe had mentioned before he’d be going to work in Rowe as a knight, training under the Gray Lion, Gwendal. The boy had claimed they were an honorable sort, so you were surprised that Count Rowe would throw his lot in with the Empire, and that Ashe would follow along. The thought of finding yourself in battle against him scared you, more so than fighting Rex. Unlike Rex though, you weren’t scared that Ashe would kill you. Rather, you were scared that you would kill him.
What would you say to Ashe if you saw him again? You pondered this question more than once. Would he even like you still? You undoubtedly were not the same Blair that he knew. You were blunter. More assertive. Cynical, even? Diana would often tell you that these were not attractive traits in a woman, but what did she know? Perhaps Ashe had heard of your reputation? If he was in Dukedom territory, the Orthodox Church could not be too far off. Had he heard people thought you were a witch now? That you were to be killed on sight? Maybe he’d try to kill you himse-
“Corrine, I think Blair is thinking about that boy again! Quick, do something!” Diana says in a panic.
A sharp finger stabs into your side, jolting you out of your self-pity and back into the ongoing conversation.
>”Oww! Why?!”“Honestly, with such a poor attention span, it’s a miracle you were able to pass any classes back at the academy.” Corrine chastises you.
>”I was paying attention!”“Oh? Then tell us, Captain. Whose plan do you agree with? Mine or Corrine’s?” The third woman, Shelley, asks you.
>A): Admit you have no idea what they’re talking about>B): Tell them what you were really thinking of>C): Corrine>D): Shelley
