To those words the two Astartes were speechless. Not only did the Primarch reject his duties but he was giving it to another. The two of them have seen what happens to Legions, how the previous Legion Master is placed as First Company Captain that serves their father faithfully. That was an honor that all Legion Masters would wish to have.
But this was even greater than that.
“For the moment you shall continue to be Legion Master of the 2nd, but as we both know such a role might be too much for one soul to fill. Especially when it was meant for a being superhuman like myself and the Legion will grow ten fold.”
“O-Of course Father!” Vadar said gladly as he bowed his head, “Who shall become my brother in arms.”
“Mitarii AL4N. He is one of the first Acillians I have created and served me faithfully for all these years. The two of you will serve dual posts, under which will be both Acillian and Astartes in equal measure.” Declared TalOS as he looked upon his son, “AL4N has immense talent and knowledge of his brothers, while you have the experience of a dozen campaigns already. Rely upon one another and grow together.”
“Of course father!” Declared the Legion Master of the 2nd as he bowed his head.
The eyes TalOS looked upon his son were favorable ones, even if they could not be seen. They had easily searched the soul of the man before him, and did not find him wanting.
“Does that answer your question, Matthias?” TalOS asked as he turned back towards the Imperial Fist.
“It does, Arch Dominus TalOS.” The Imperial Fist called out as he gave a courteous bow, “I shall make sure all of the Imperial Fists and Imperium know of your true title.”
“Do not worry yourself with the rest of the Imperium, they will learn in time.” TalOS placated as he waved his hand, “For now, make my brother proud.”
“I shall.” Legion Master Matthias said as he turned around and left the Bridge.
