It is decided. You will descend to the surface with Gamma Company, disguised as Imperial Fists on a routine check-up. As you feel the familiar shudder of the ship emerging from the warp, you turn from the bridge and descend to the hangar deck, where Kylon has assembled Gamma company and is using the chapters techmarines and some serfs to paint and outfit them in the regalia of the Imperial Fists. You quickly join them, shedding the snake skin of the Alpha Legion for another guise. After only a few hours you are ready, and as you place the MKIV helmet upon your head you see before you a full company of Imperial Fists where the Alpha Legion once stood. You do not give any speeches. The men have already been given their mission, and they need no further instruction. With Kylon at your side, you board the yellow Thunderhawks and begin your journey to the planet.
On the surface, a delegation of the planet’s leadership is already waiting for you at the landing pad. You had informed them of your arrival once the ships were painted in the Imperial Fist colours. They evidently suspect nothing. Indeed, as the gunship doors descend and you step onto the windy platform they rush towards you, smiles and joy clear on their faces.
“My Lord! King Friederich, at your disposal. It is a momentous occasion to have you here again! My father told me stories of your first arrival. To think we are graced with your presence in this hour of the Imperium’s greatest need! I must tell you our troops stand ready to fight alongside the mighty warriors of the Adeptus Astartes at your command!”
Interesting. It seems that these are fanatic loyalists, and they have already assembled a force of troops to send to the aid of the Imperium. You nod sagely, and begin walking with the king and his delegation to their halls of governance, discussing your arrival and the circumstances of the planet.
From what he tells you, the King has been raised on stories of this planet’s conquest during the Great Crusade, developing a near fanatic loyalty to the Imperium, and with the news of the civil war he has raised up what he can from the planet’s PDF to send out and contribute. A fool to your eyes, but one with deep pockets. 200 million fully equipped troops stand at the ready, and the King is offering you their command. A significant offer, but one you’re not entirely sure of. What will you do?
>Accept the Kings offer. It will be good to have expendable troops to throw at a problem.
>Refuse. They would be a nuisance. Better that they be sent off to die on a battlefield than have you managing loyalists.
