>>5768716It was a rather tough choice to make. Both would be fine additions to the Blackwings and help fill out areas that were sorely lacking. Ultimately, you had to conclude that having an extra helping hand with healing was more important than additional swordsmen. It wasn’t too long ago that several of your members were out of commission due to the company’s lack of trained clerics. Like it or not, Elizabeth could not shoulder the burden of keeping everyone healthy on her own.
>“Kayla, I’d be happy to have you and your healers join up with us.”“Yes!” The cleric jumps for joy. “Phioc sí mé!” She points towards Seamus. "Anois, fág!”
Seamus, who up until now appeared to be of a rather serious and brooding sort, almost looks hurt as he leaves the grounds, head hanging dejectedly.
“I’ll go tell the other clerics we’re coming with you. I’m looking forward to working with you, Blair!” Kayla says jovially. “I am now utterly and wholly at your service.”
>“If you’re going to be with us, please cut that out.” You say as Kayla hops away excitedly, likely not hearing your comment.“Maybe make sure that one is on the front lines at all times.” Corrine mutters under her breath.
>“Come now, we need all the help we can get. At this point, we’re in no position to deny anyone skilled that wishes to join. Besides, it isn’t as if she’d be the first member of our merry band with personality quirks.”“I suppose you’re right. Speaking of, we should talk about that.” Corrine clears her throat. “As you know, things around here have certainly been better.”
>“Did we suffer any losses in the last battle?”Corrine shakes her head. “No. Thanks to the Sreng, we were able to coast relatively unscathed. However, we’re still lacking in a lot of critical areas. Much of our infantry was wiped out at Gronder. And while things are pretty bad on that front, it’s not nearly as grim as the loss of aerial power we endured. If we don’t do something to remedy that, we may have to change the name of the company. ‘Blackwings’ just be accurate anymore.”
>“I’m open to suggestions if you know where to find a bunch of strong folk quickly.” You say tiredly.“I don’t think we’ll have to look further than right here.” Corrine says. “The Alliance and the Kingdom are both effectively out of the war, leaving the Knights of Seiros as the only option mercenaries will have for suitable employment outside of the Empire. Apparently sellswords have already begun flocking to the monastery looking for work. There was even one such company that got here early enough to help the Knights of Seiros defend. We’ll just have to bust open the coffers a bit is all.”
