>>6155691As you spit out a glob of blood, you acquiesce that perhaps this situation has somewhat spiralled out of control. In your current state, you were still more than capable of slaying the Djinn. But it carried a small risk of making mincemeat out of May. While you assess both the odds of missing your attack as well as your general opinion of the thief, you ultimately decide to leave the matter of finishing the spirit off to your companions. Removing another Light Rune from your satchel, you quickly activate the item, targeting the Djinn, who was still holding May outwards towards you.
Just as it did with the Terror, the rune appears beneath the Djinn, freezing it in place. As it does so, the Djinn drops May, who lands on the ground with a soft thud. She wastes no time in scurrying away from her captor, leaving it wide open for an attack.
>Light Rune: 1/3“WHAT SORCERY IS THIS? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?”
>“I guess they didn’t have these back in your day? Some ‘god’ you turned out to be.” You scoff. “Stopped in your tracks by a shitty little trinket I bought for a few measly coins at a gift shop. I thought an ancient spirit would prove to be more interesting, but you turned out to be nothing more than a bore. I’m done with you. Nadia, blow this thing’s head off.”“WAIT! DO NOT DO THIS! I AM-”
>Nadia: 10 (Crit)>Nadia: 24 MAG + 7 (Shine) - 24 RES = 7x3(Crit) = 21 DMG>Djinn: 0/120 HPThe Djinn’s final words are lost as Nadia launches a lance of light that trails across the room and blasts the Djinn in the head, destroying it for good. The spirit wordlessly spasms, suspended in mid-air as if held there by strings. You watch as it begins to collapse in on itself, its limbs retracting, until it finally vanishes from your sight. Where the Djinn once stood now remains a pile of faded blue dust. After having waited millennia to be freed from its imprisonment by the Sorcerer King, it was felled in a matter of minutes shortly after release thanks to you and your party. You have succeeded in capturing the Keep.
You help May off the ground. The girl looks shaken. For a second, you feel a bit guilty. After all, she’d have not been captured had you just killed the Djinn earlier. You almost expect her to chastise you, but instead…
“Boss!” May cries. “Thank you for not cutting me down!”
>“Of course, May. I would never.” You cross your fingers behind your back.A door from above swings open, and you instinctively place your hand on your axe, ready for another fight. Has Margo returned?
“Y-you’re okay…thank goodness.” Alvin says, breathing heavily. The man looked terrible. His hair and clothing were drenched in blood, and his left eye had been swollen shut. Bruises ran up and down his body, and he was barely standing straight, using the frame of the door for support. “I’d heard fighting…did you defeat her?”
