“I get it now! She’s going to the Temple.” You understand why Marcela felt like she knew where Ema was going!
“The Temple of Courage?” Ihor needs to make sure you’re talking about the same thing. Yes, that’s Qiao’s temple.
“Yes.” You respond without hesitation.
“Are you 100% positive?” Ihor doesn’t want to see any shilly-shallying in your eyes.
“As I am positive that your name is Ihor.” You have no doubts.
“…That doesn’t tell me much.” Ihor didn’t get anything from your answer.
“I-I didn’t mean it that way then. The answer is yes, I have no doubts.” You dryly respond to show you’re not playing any games here.
“I suggest we up our pace and get there before our target does to get the upper hand.” Ihor has a risky idea, all banking on you not screwing this up. And with today’s track record, you’re not confident. “If we do, I estimate we’ll be there 3 to 4 hours before she arrives. Even earlier if we don’t make too many stops.”
“How long is the trip?” Vanessa wonders if it’s going to be a long trip or not.
“42 hours long. Give or take.” Ihor is not kidding. He has acted stoic the entire time, but you had the faint wish he was kidding.
“Oh my, I think I underestimated how fast our trains are.” Vanessa has a new perspective on life.
“Let’s do it.” You grab the radar. “Besides, this has a zoom out button. We have more leeway to check if Ema changes directions.” You demonstrate by zooming in and zooming out, and zooming in and zooming out, and zooming in and zoo—
“Y-You’re making me dizzy...” Ex-Captain van Zullekom doesn’t feel so good after staring at the radar for so long.
“Roger that.” Ihor puts his foot down! Time to go moderately faster than you were just going!
It’s been a while since you took an interregional trip inside a car. The train is your preferred mode of transportation for long trips, it allows you to gather your thoughts while enjoying the scenery. The couple of times you used a plane terrify you for different reasons, it’s like there’s always turbulence...
Each one of you took turns driving to make the trip a lot less taxing. You stopped at a couple of gas stations to fill the tank, to empty the other tank and eat some renown gas station food. The police stopped you a couple of times, but once you mentioned you used to be part of the force, they didn’t bother you like they do other tourists. During the trip, you all got to know each other a little more personally. With this trust built, you decided to split the earnings amongst you two for solving this case. Ihor has a family to feed, and you long forgot there’s payment involved, you just want to help everyone out of this mess – help Qiao, Marcela and Ema.
You can’t fail for the 3rd time… You just can’t.
