The Spacefolder Monococque was inspired by Dune spacefolders but more particularly this picrel. I read an article about foldable batteries, someone made a battery out of hygroscopic hydrogel that pulls electricity out of demoisturised air ions - the battery is foldable like a sheet of paper, you can make origami out of it and it still works. They claimed they could get it to generate up to as much voltage as a conventional battery.
There used to be a lot of research around ambient energy, parasitic energy etc, and ultra low voltage applications, it would be cool if clothes and things could just draw power from your movement or the air moisture around you.
I then decided it would be much cooler if you made a foldable tank or infantry fighting vehicle / armoured personnel carrier. And the tank transports people like a spacefolder, a teleporting foldable tank.
