>>6288552After less time than you'd expected you arrive in the semi-modern red colored break room. It has a fridge, a couch, and a coffee machine. And there are various large muscular demons, and even a few lanky ones. Most of them seem as though they have the soul sucked out of them. Just kinda hanging in there. Muttering about work amongst themselves.
"So uh... Quite a party down here Morrigoth. So is nobody allowed to leave?"
"Its sort of a shifts based thing. You do a four month tour, and then you're whisked off to super heaven to relax before returning to your shift sometime after."
"And... You're just not allowed to leave until what? They roll out the heaven escalator or whatever?"
"Heaven bus, but yes."
You sigh.
"This whole thing is complicated Morrigoth. I can't even believe this. I thought hell was like, full of evil unrepentant demons who hate and torture each other, but its what? Just full of heavens table scraps torturing eternal prisoners?"
Morrigoth pours herself a glass of water from the water cooler,
"It wasn't always like this! Like, when The Malebolge were in charge, they had a railroad that led to all parallel worlds! Of course... I was shocked to learn that the damn thing was blown to pieces and non-functional! Spiteful! I wish I could kick those higher ups ass for real this time!"
"The Malebolge were who now? Some like, rival heavens faction?"
"The original rulers. The original rebellion that fell from heavens grace. We forced them to work down here, and when they rebelled again and tried to overtake heaven... We killed most of the Malebolge royals. And they would've been the ones who built the railroad AND knew how it worked!"
Morrigoth looks incredibly concerned. You place your hand on her shoulder. "Ok, well, was there anybody from the old kingdom that you maybe know down here? Did any of them live?"
Morrigoth exhales and looks to you with a pained expression, "Rumors say the princess survived. But if she’s alive, she’s hiding damn well. Nobodys seen her for a hundred years."
"Survived?"
"Survived, or possibly spared. They were just rumors between the higher ups. I don't think anyone knows for sure. All I know is that I haven't heard the princess even mentioned in the past 100 years. If she did, she's probably deep in hiding."
You sigh throwing your hands up, "Great so how do we rebel now-"
