The man took a single step towards the mighty steed, his eyes in wonder at just how the gods had blessed him with his mount. He should not call out to her, for he knew the temperment of the mare was much more pronounced than others.
Each step was a cautious one so that he would not upset her. It was after all his decision that landed them upon the island of Albion. He suspected that the beast had some anger over the fact that it was he who landed them in this mess. Well, he had done so to a certain extent that he would punish himself for.
“Hey,” Lucian heard someone call out from beside him as he walked, “You think you can ride that mighty beast of a horse?”
“Yes.” Lucian said without even facing the man. His full attention taken by the mighty steed as it noticed him. It shook that mighty maine of its as it witnessed him, for what it might mean for Lucian he did not yet know.
“A dozen men including the Baron have tried to ride her and none were able to.” Answered the man who Lucian was trying not to give any mind to, “The Baron had the greatest time on her, three bucks before she kicked him off of her saddle. You sure you wanna try?”
“I will,” Lucian said as he stood before her, “For Nightshade is my horse.”
At the mention of its name the mighty creature shifted, its head high and mighty as if owning up to such a declaration. It looked upon Lucian with something that was close to scorn, likely because it was angered by having to be alone for so long.
Lucian kept himself straight, trying not to make him seem any larger than he was. A simple show of humility, one that he was all to use to these last few days. He had one hand resting upon his breast, making it clear where one of his arms were. The other gave a simple prayer to the Lady and Morr before the Knight reached towards her snout. He did not grab it though, instead keeping it held underneath her jaw in wait.
Nightshade looked upon him haughtiness and judgment, weighing as if what Lucian was doing was enough for it. For all the pain and torture she had to experience would be resolved through this action.
Yet against all that happened, the Horse nuzzled the hand of Lucian. His head lowering to rub itself against the outstretched hand of the nearly fallen Knight. Lucian held himself for he enjoyed the moment of peace the two of them were having. Here in just a few minutes they would need to sally forth and face their enemy.
He wanted to enjoy this moment.
