And left. I walked away, right around and disappeared into the crowd. Garlo continued to stir up his rally for his cause. I would be long gone before it even finished.
I knew better than to try lashing out now, here in the heart of the Emperor's Kingdom, underneath his heaven, against one of the gods aligned with his cause. Even if I were completely justified to, or acting in self defense, he would always be viewed as in the right. He could attack someone for any reason and be viewed as guiltless of any wrongdoing here in the Capital just because he was a Trinity God. People, even if they didn't agree in their hearts, would be forced to accept such a viewpoint. After all, the Trinity could do no wrong in their eyes, because it has hammered this into their psyches for a thousand years. There's no way to fight a dictatorship in its own heart. Not at this time.
I left the place. On my way out of the Capital, I stopped for some green tea and then carried on, back on my way to the Bunker.
I would not soon forget this. Nor would I forget Master Garlo and his four eyes full of fiery hatred.
To him, humanity and mortals are scum. Scum who are capable of nothing but impurity, whose works are none and who eternally leech off the gods as benefactors. Because he knows the Great Rebirth itself is a world where mortality will no longer be a thing, he is affirmed in his belief. He would push and petition for the eradication of mortals to pressure the Emperor into initiating the Rebirth sooner.
He is nothing less than the very figure of the god who completely disdains all mortals and sees them as nothing but below himself. He is like the inverse of whatever idea allowed Sivil to become the strongest mortal, who rivals the gods.
Garlo will have to face severe punishment one day for his beliefs...
