On the subject of alien weirdness I remember reading about this philosophical concept after watching a trailer for Scorn, a visceral eldritch biopunk game (I have not played it) with Cronenberg style fleshy wriggling tentacle guns. Apparently this "thrownness" philosophy was deliberately incorporated as part of the studio game design principles
