Just as Lucian was starting to wish that a scruff of fuzz would grow upon his chin in an attempt to shelter his body just that little but more from the winds he noticed something. The road, which they had been following for several days, had become covered in the snow of the mountains yet Lucian was able to make out a small grey spot.
It was a place that looked almost untouched by the road of snow that they were walking through. It reminded Lucian of the spots around the village where the heat of homes would be the bane of snow gathering all around them. Yet he could barely imagine such a large amount of snow would be fought against, memories of having to fight against feet of it coming to his mind.
It was then that Lucian heard a small voice. A hushed voice that sang in a language that Lucian knew but did not. Its weakness drew away all meaning that Lucian could have gained from the words for they were meant to be so. As if there was a great many sheets drawn upon the singer who would have brought a cathedral to its knees.
His first thought was the Lizard, Tee-Nee-Tyny, yet the Lizard was still focused on the small welling of magic dancing upon his palms to have given such a graven mournful song. The giant beast that was Bok was equally not as able to sing, but for reason of intelligence above all else.
So Lucian understood it as he glanced towards Adok. The Dwarf lowering his head as if weight had been placed upon him.
Lucian wanted to ask the Dwarf what he was singing or why, but he could tell that now was not the time to say anything. Runesmith he is, and perhaps a friend, the Dwarf was within a world of a sorta prayer. Lucian would not have appreciated if his prayers to the Gods was interrupted. As such he gave the Dwarf his space.
Yet Lucian realized as they approached that the place was growing larger and larger. It seemed like no time at all passed, yet now Lucian was looking directly into a Mountain hold of the Dwarfs.
Karak Ziflin, the further Dwarfen settlement on this side of the world.
There he could see them, bright spots of bronze and steel against the gray mountain side. They were stout, round bellied, and carrying weapons twice their size.
Dwarf Warriors.
