“It’s open!” Ryan calls.
You flash Pulsemon a signal with a laser pointer, and he quickly returns from his sentry post by the corner of the hallway. For a little while, you thought that you might need a second distraction after all— the cracking code took longer than expected to break through. Fortunately, it managed to finish a new cycle and open up the lock before the patrol returned to your position.
<span class="mu-s">”Everyone in!”</span> Phascomon chirps from within your Digivice. You need no further prompting, filing into the office first with your W1pe.app pre-loaded.
It proves to be unnecessary. There’s no servitor waiting in the office. There’s just a large terminal, a holographic projection of the hospital, and a series of thick cables extending from the terminal and running into the walls. You see a dashboard with numerous temperature controls and orders for storage space allocation.
Notably, there’s no way to control any of this from the outside. One needs to log into the partition itself, and access the sub-level of the Hospital building.
“Get everything ready.” You order Ryan. “Usual procedure for entering partitions, VPNs and all.”
By now, you’re familiar with the process. Ryan accepts your order without a hitch, refreshing his time-sensitive .apps and tools so that he can enter the network with a fresh timer. He’s particularly cautious after what happened to Lenny.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-b">”Oi. Sparky. Where’d you say your boss was again?”</span></span> Gizamon asks roughly.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-b">”Last I checked, they were doing some creepy experiments using the Hospital software. I think it was a surgery room?”</span></span>
<span class="mu-s">”Huh? They were cutting up the Cutemon?! Isn’t that something you should have told us before?”</span> Phascomon asks, pacing wildly in the corner of your HUD.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-b">”No! They were just trying to copy something in his code. Weird little experiments, and they were using the equipment here."</span></span>
"What do you mean 'using the equipment'?" Ryan asks.
You think back to the mall, and the customer redirection protocols within. Apart from being abandoned, the mall was a carbon copy of the real one, down to each store.
"There's a copy of every facility in the backend. They must be using that." You answer.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-b">"Bingo. So now we waltz in, you delete those two creeps, and we get the boss back! Then he'll hear out whatever request you had."</span></span>
Ryan holds a hand out, preparing to jump inside.
