The Heir of Ursen charm burns hot enough to blister the skin, as if reacting to the suffocating thick . You feel a cold sensation slip against your legs as your charge before dissipating into the stone. Perhaps sensing your resistance to his abilities, the sorcerer takes a half-step back. His stance changes in an instant from dismissive to in earnest.
He shields his face with his left hand even as his right goes to his own blade. You follow through with your attack, without gauntlet or buckler you expect your thrust to pierce hand and face both. Instead, your blade dissipates into dust at his touch. Grains of metal sprinkle across the cobblestones like fistfuls of sand. There is no time for hesitation, no time to show alarm or dismay at the undoing of your sword. You step in, face to face with the hooded Inferni, and slam your shield into the side of their head.
The shield does not dissipate like the blade, instead crunching into the Foe with a satisfying crunch that sends them reeling into the side of the carriage. You swing your shield in to finish them off, but again that damnable left hand comes up. Nothing more than a graze of a single finger on the rim of your wooden safeguard and it is undone. You spring back, shield clattering to splinters on the floor at your feet.
“Milord!” Mikail cries, kicking aside the last remaining wounded guardsman and covering your flank.
“Ware, squire!” You keep your eyes on the dazed warlock as they lean against the carriage, drawing your dirk with lethal intent. “Their touch is deadly!”
The hood turns at the sound of your voice, the left hand comes up again. This close… you can see the unseelie energies collecting in their hand…
