TalOS gave a laugh as he heard the suggestion, “That is a brilliant suggestion that I wish was realized sooner. Rogal, I have been working on so many different attributes and measurements that something as simple as the type of terrain did not strike me.”
“You have realized it. The land you built these fortresses on are of solid foundations making them resistant to mining attacks as well as erosion. I am asking that you take that one step further.” Rogal pointed out with simple reasons while handing back the device.
As TalOS accepted the device the Lord of the Imperial Fists continued, “When I talked to Horus he had claimed you were reclusive without reason. Fulgrim spat upon your name as well when it was referenced. They are wrong. You have a reason, but every day that reason comes closer to ending.”
“Are you suggesting that I march out into the Crusade?” TalOS put forward while making sure he held back any real annoyance.
“You will be asked to do so constantly and without error at the War Council. You are a free element of power whose hands look to be motionless. You also wield great power, mobilizing an untapped core of the Imperium that will not act upon anyone else’s wishes. Others will want that.” Dorn laid it straight out as he saw it. For someone who was still learning TalOS knew he was closing on the end of it.
“What you have shown me has made the reasons obvious. While you have conquered more than any of us, making your control fickle. Without a steady hand it will fail.” TalOS saw, just for a moment, a hint of realization bring itself to the face of his brother, “It is just like our Father who fights amongst the stars. Twenty Sons, each one an extension of himself. When we are found and order is established, you will be his inevitable fate.”
Invoking the name of the Emperor should not have had such a powerful striking of thoughts within the mind of TalOS, but here it did. Maybe it was not because it directly involved the Creator but what it meant for his brother to have said such a thing so early in the Crusade.
“You are correct.” Were the words that TalOS said as he decided this moment was one to finally retrieve the B3-3R from his storage, “Let it be in a hundred, two hundred, or a thousand years he will need to consolidate power. Just like I am, he will form a government in case the greatest of all ends are to come. Let us hope he is successful.”
