The Estate was one of the closest buildings to the proper fortress that was Castle Bastonne. It would not however partake in the protections that the mighty castle that has been around since the dawn of Bretonnia, provides. Such a thing was not in the consideration of those who made it though.
Castle Bastonne has more than once been the seat of power for all of Bretonnia. In times where Royarch was not living within the Castle of the Founder it was still the seat of the Duchy of Bastonne.
For such a reason it made the greatest sense that Barons and Counts would vye to have some kind of presence within the city. That way they could be at the heart of the province without brothering their Lord of relying upon Peasants for housing. Such shame both of these would have brought upon them that they opted to simply buy the land around the lord.
Lucian looked upon this estate, simply enamored by the workmanship.
“Empire woodwork it looks like.” Adok said as he placed a hand on the furnishings, “The wood itself probably coming from the Grey Mountains if I had to guess.”
“Then this person has some weight to import such things.”
“Aye, if my eyes do not betray me the nails and couplings are dwarven make.” Adok declared as he ran his hand across the bolts, “Bretonnians like their vanity, and I agree with it.”
“Well we should probably start making our way in.” Lucian said as he rapped his fist against the door, “I am Knight Errant Lucian the Durand, I ask to meet with the Lord of this Estate!”
As fast as Lucian’s words left his lips the door swung open. On the other side of it was a Yeoman of moderate build. Someone, like Lucian, had seen the better side of peasant life. Unlike Lucian though who could easily hide his peasantry in his looks this man would never be able to escape the stigma of being a Peasant. His face was just that little bit misshapen and one of his eyes straying just a little too far over.
“Sorry Lord!” The Yeoman said as he gave a bow, “Follow me, I shall take you to the Lord’s Chamber.”
With that the two walked in. It seemed they were welcomed with open hands at the very least.
