>>5233469hee hee the youtube compilations of Nicolas Cage maniac shouting and screaming always cheer me up
I guess we all played the imaginary rpg game "cast this actor for this npc" etc.
The modern mumblecore actors just do not possess this intensity. The Northman is meant to be intense but too much of the budget went into post processing and graphics, fx and lighting. In the VVitch Eggers underplayed it, deliberately minimised the occult, in this one it is like halloween pumpkin Skyrim mode, shout VALHALLA decapitate a horse over a volcano. Skarsgard just cannot harness the facial pandemonium to match the cinematic atrocities being inflicted on screen. His face is just beardy and muddy and expressionless and numb.
In contrast face/off is such a good film. Nicolas Cage literally displays EVERY emotion, maybe it is thr German Expressionism lol. Why wasn't John Woo more successful in Hollywood? I suppose you can only repeat the flying white doves and slow motion dive shootdodges so many times. Imagine if The Northman starred Nicolas Cage directed by John Woo. Imagine if Dunc starred Nicolas Cage directed by John Woo. Nicolas Cage! John Woo! Yay!
