''That money will help,'' Rikard speaks, crossing his arms on his chest. ''Your idea about the festival is a good one, Augustine, and I think we could set aside some funds for that, but I think purchasing supplies for the village will be more important.''
''Mmhm.'' The pink godstouched rolls a strand of her hair around her index.
''You said there was a blue-haired lady?'' Seyraphal quietly says, her hunched, bandaged self leaning forward with careful curiosity.
''Indeed, she barely said anything, and stayed beside that woman calling herself Maria all the time.''
Rather odd for her to be here.
''Why? Do you know her?''
''W-well, no, not her. I think. I knew a blue-haired lady in the past...'' Being the center of attention has the bandage-wrapped moth fumble with her words and fingers. ''...Not important.''
''I don't think there are many blue-haired godstouched in the Allied Kingdoms,'' Shigeko says, leaning closer to her bug friend. ''It shouldn't be unreasonable to arrange some kind of meeting, you might no—''
''It's okay, it's okay!'' Seyraphal nervously waves her three-fingered hands. ''I've just been thinking about Usha. She'll need magic, and I don't think the wands will work.''
Meeting everyone's curious gaze makes her continue. ''Corruption comes from within, from us Mamonos, a result of our souls and unusual bodies finding equilibrium with reality.''
''Holy magic is similar.'' She gestures to you, pointing one of her large, scaly-looking fingers to your visible Focii. ''The gift of the divines flows from your artifact, shaped by your soul into the miracles you know, then manifest out of your body, or sometimes into it.''
She clears her throat, two fuzzy antennae poking out of her forehead as the bandage comes undone. ''The wands don't have that. Trying won't hurt, of course! But... but be prepared for disappointment.''
That...Hm, that's a really sharp observation.
The long silence that follows has her nervously twiddling her fingers.
''Good point.'' Your dad finally breaks the silence as he extracts himself from his thoughts. ''Is Thibault really our only source of magic?''
''Bad idea.'' Augustine immediately interjects. ''Nobles have fingers in many pies; who knows who'll get to know about our little slime if he does?''
''Can't say I trust the man.'' Canaan suddenly says, closing the door behind her. ''I know the Mamonos were rather unruly here in the past, yeah?''
Shigeko and Seyraphal nod to answer her question.
''His dad put him in charge of handling the monsters, and things got this bad under his watch. It shouldn't be Rey or Augustine shaking things around to make him start caring. Indifference, incompetence, malice... whatever the cause, things got this bad under his watch.''
