>“Sure it isn’t because we’re on the top of a drafty mountain in the middle of the night?”Crowley shrugs. “Anyway, we’re done here. I’d say you’ve got the fundamentals down.”
Between the two men lay the shattered remnants of Oleg’s sword. Crowley had picked the item up to use as practice for the Blade Breaker technique. Now that it lay destroyed, there were no other spare weapons to try it out on. You’d just have to hope you really understood how the technique worked. It had proven to be surprisingly simple, requiring only around 30 minutes of instruction. Saoirse was sitting on the floor, catching her breath. She had taken up Crowley on his offer to also learn the technique. As for Butch, he was off to the side, snoring deeply.
“We’ve got about an hour and a half I’d wager.” Crowley says. “Plenty of time to rest up and recuperate some of your strength. Before then though, I’ve got some dried meat in my satchel. Nothing like a quick snack before a nap, right?”
Accepting the man’s generosity, you begin snacking on a piece of smoked venison. The three of you gather around an impromptu campfire, enjoying the meal in silence. Though Crowley still looked full of vigor, you and Saoirse were exhausted, and in desperate need of some sleep. As soon as you finished your meal, you’d take advantage of the time left remaining to doze off. Until then though, there you saw no harm in a bit of dinner conversation.
