As you start floating through space, Astamon tries his best to occupy Vademon's attention. He stops checking his back, baiting the alien into sneaking up from behind. The lasers are too fast to dodge, and he's getting worn down, but they seem to mostly be regular attacks instead of specialized techniques, so he survives numerous hits. One of his volleys manages to get the alien directly, and you see a cloud of free-floating static where the saucer once was.
You cling on to the large bear and kick off the assets that you've left behind. Ryan does the same, gripping a flat sheet of metal to use as a shield. However, as you make your way towards the direction that Pulsemon pointed out, you hear Astamon's cry of alarm.
<span class="mu-s">"MARNIE!"</span>
You duck behind the bear, just in time for a beam of energy to tear through its head. You peek through the sizzling hole left in its wake, and spy Vademon pointing its ray gun your way. It snarls and vanishes in another blur of movement, leaving you shivering in fright. The shield is worthless, all it did was hide your shape. If he shot any lower, it would have killed you immediately. Hopefully it does better against the stray bombs that the little guy is flinging around.
