The 625th Cerco Chemhounds report SPIDERS. THE SPIDERS. THEY'RE IN MY EYEBALLS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
That's . . . Code. Right? That's code. They're downcycling from their alchemically induced stupor, and they don't want the hostiles to know if they intercept any messages.

A tired, greying man on a horse, clutching a rather dire looking wound, introduces himself as Princeps-Primi Veldspar, commander of Sheepwoe. He'd like to thank the outlanders for their swift assistance when six men tried to gut him with a pitchwork. He tried to do it but he said "fork" with too much emphasis and they all fell over laughing.
He further reports the (Cesteriphon sponsored) militia of Howlhammer would very much like to parlay. There were six Flamespeakers among them, and they should all be dead by now, but it appears they'd convinced the militia we were a surprise invasion force from the far east, of loathsome, noxious Sparksworn. At least their captain had the decency to apologize for jamming a pitchfork halfway through my leg.
He'd like to go find a medical professional now, if it's all the same to you?

Captain-Bannerleader Part Time Jakbo reports he is VERY VERY SORRY do you want his grain? Please. He doesn't have a lot left, because the *other* people with a lot of weapons already took most of it.
Also just to clarify because it is frightfully hard to tell with the blood, the stains, the mud and all the dirt, you're the *good* guys, right? House High and Grand Cesteriphon's own private troops, come to assure them all is well? If this is about the tax backlog he is also frightfully sorry but there's been a hundred and twenty very rude outlanders shacking up in his town for the past four days and every time he sent a courier they'd drag the man back to the town square and beat him with a stick.
But he always knew the House would send its best to save him! It's obvious now! Those Outlanders were invaders! Praise the House for its foresight! If only the Legion were half as prescient. His militia is fairly banged up (sorry, sorry, really very sorry) but they're willing to assist, if they can?

The afternoon otherwise passes with no new reports of contacts.
The swarms of riders have withdrawn west, closer to the Spanway, and likely across it.
