>>5625406With help now on the way, you convey your idea to Aggron and Drilbur with Kadabra's help.
Drilbur doesn't need much encouragement, jumping in and digging a tunnel network big enough for Syurm to fit through so she can launch ambushes relatively safely.
She's hesitant at first, but after following Drilbur at your encouragement, she soon warms to the idea and is nipping in and out all over the place.
From here, Holly volunteers to help with Whiskers, setting to turning a section you outline into a mud pit to force anyone trying to enter the clearing to come within Syurm's field of fire, but unfortunately, this winds up collapsing two of the lower tunnels on the slope, leaving Syurm with a bit of a blindspot.
Aggron meanwhile helps rough up the clearing more while seeding the area with Stealth Rosks, which you duly warn Fie and Jackie of so they don't get pelted like that one policeman back at Lake Clarity.
In addition, Kadabra actually makes himself useful during all of this, though it's not immediately evident.
The first inkling you have that he's not just flaked off is when he returns to the clearing after about half an hour when you've finished the initial preparations and you're building snares and setting other traps in the brush, when he teleports back with one of the Swampert, which gives you a friendly nod.
Decided I'd enlist some help. You mentioned food? Kadabra prods.
With a sigh, you shake out a few pokeblocks for Swampert along with Drilbur and Aggron when they see what you're offering, before Kadabra winks out again, returning shortly thereafter with a Gallade, before disappearing again.
It's while Holly is haltingly discussing her powers with the Gallade though, that Kadabra returns again, in the company of a small, green pokemon floating beside him and going by his attitude - somewhere between scared and awed - this pokemon is a big fucking deal. Even if it's not one you immediately recognise.
