>>5378343You’re pretty sure you know why Bernard had been thinking of Gregor. Second to Blaze and FastBall, Gregor is the one mutant that’d likely do a number on this place and everyone in it.
While the idea of letting Gregor out to join the party has some appeal, even with Valjean’s brainwashing, you’re not too keen on getting sidetracked when you’re already on Conduit’s floor. “Let’s just focus on finding Conduit for now.”
Of course, any mutant you come across who’s well enough to stand on their own two feet (or however many feet they end up having) are freed by your hand along the way.
Again, you fall into that rhythm of release, brainwash, release, brainwash.
That is, until…
“ACCESS RIGHTS HAVE BEEN REVOKED.” The machine beeps out. Too stubborn to be deterred, you try again. “ACCESS RIGHTS HAVE BEEN REVOKED.”
Fuck. They definitely know whose card you’ve been using to release the mutants.
“Aw, forget the stupid keycard!” Without warning, Bernard swipes it from your hand, not hesitating to throw it over the ledge. “Let’s just go grab Conduit and get outta here!”
Making haste, you and Bernard lead the rest of your gang to the fabled Cell 324. You’re literally that close to getting the empath to safety, out of the clutches of FutureLabs, but, of course, Murphy’s Law dictates that this kind of stuff has to be difficult…
“My, my, my~~~” A feminine voice sounds from up ahead, one that you’d sensed before you heard her. “Do my eyes deceive me?”
Instead of guard or orderly gear, the woman is dressed in the garb that is typical for lab workers. Carrying a large, boxish thing at her side, though you don’t know this woman’s name, the sight of her niggles something dangerous in the back of your mind– that same, animalistic part of you that positively relishes in tearing things asunder.
“I spy with my little eye~” As the woman steps forwards, red-painted lips morph into a wicked grin. “Five lovely mutants who are doomed to die~”
